PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR:
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the preparation, calculation, and processing of bi-weekly payroll for approximately 500 union and non-union employees across Canada. Building an excellent customer service focus is key a responsibility of the role. This role reports to the Payroll Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities Areas:
Responsible for preparing payrolls for submission from source material and checking information for accuracy, ensuring that all employees and contractors are paid accurately and in a timely fashion.
Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating and keying data, and resolve any payroll discrepancies that may arise.
Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of a variety of files, records, and reports relative to the payroll system.
Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
Issue Record of Employments and respond to HRDC inquiries.
Process special payments for vacation pay, retroactive pay, manual cheques, etc. and calculate year-end adjustments.
Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures.
Liaise with a variety of internal and external contacts for payroll-related issues. Batch pay sheets for data entry and enter payroll information to ultimately distribute pay cheques.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Excellent communication, organizational -and-amp; interpersonal skills.
Experience of working in a busy payroll environment working with tight deadlines.
Independent with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Excellent with multi-tasking and ability deal with changing priorities.
Detail oriented.
Education and Experience:
a) Formal Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Business Administration, Finance, or
accounting diploma.
b) Professional Designation Required:
Canadian Payroll Association Certification would be considered an asset.
c) Experience:
Minimum 3 years progressive experience in a computerized payroll environment.
Great Plains experience would be considered an asset.
